The objective of the Program: The WURI sub-regional program aims to set up a basic unique identification system for any person on the territory of the country, without taking into account their legal status. It fits into the framework of ECOWAS as a lever for socio-economic development, based on the creation of a register of the entire population. This robust and reliable functional system aims to collect minimal data (limited to name, date of birth, gender, and certain biometric data) on individuals for their registration in the unique identification system. These data will be associated with a unique identification number, for life, non-intelligible and randomly assigned that can be used in other systems for which the authentication of people is essential (management of identities, students, civil servants, pensions, etc.).
