Detailed Description Obtaining a health insurance card (Kela card) and a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC)

Procurement area 1: The subject of the procurement is the production, personalization and mailing of a health insurance card (Kela card) to card recipients. A Kela card is a physical card that Kela issues to a person insured under the Health Insurance Act. 461,000 Kela cards were ordered in 2024. See Appendix 1 Service description Kela card for a more detailed description of the subject of the procurement.
Procurement area 2: The subject of the procurement is the European Health Insurance Card. The card is colloquially known as the EHIC card (European Health Insurance Card). With a European Health Insurance Card, the cardholder is entitled to receive medically necessary treatment while temporarily staying in another EU or EEA country, Switzerland, the United Kingdom or Northern Ireland.
